Black Rudraksha is the most naturally colored bead, which is very auspicious for worship purposes. Black Rudraksha is very difficult to grow due to the rare conditions of plantations required. These beads make a great resource for chanting mantras on them. Some beads are also used for wearing, but majorly, it is used for worshipping purposes. It is believed that a person’s upper self, also called the Upa Guru, can be awakened when Jaap is done through these beads.

An easy way to identify if the bead is naturally black is to hold the bead close to a source of light and inspect each high and lows in the bead clearly. In the case of colored beads, there are traces of uncolored portions on the bead, generally in the lower section of the bead. This will not be the case with a natural black bead. Also, a natural bead is cleaner and evenly toned in black than the artificially colored beads.
