Roli Kumkum

Description

Quantity: 20 grams

Roli is originally made from Haldi (Turmuric) dry roasted at high temperatures. Roli is used as a Shubh item in the Poojas. It is a symbol of happiness, auspiciousness and is considered holy for being used in prayers. The color of Roli is Red as when turmeric is roasted at very high temperatures, it turns red in color. It is the most unadulterated method of making Roli. Red is also the color of Vermillion (Sindhoor) which is the representation of marital status. Females put a streak of Vermillion in their head and forehead as a symbol of representing their marital status. It is also to keep a long life to their husbands by taking away all their problems and griefs.

In the absence of Vermillion, Roli is applied by the ladies as keeping their heads empty is a symbol of a broken marriage and hence, not an auspicious symbol.

Thus, this Roli can be used both for Puja and for putting on the head or forehead. Roli and Kumkum are different from each other in small regard. Kumkum is made of slaked lime. When slaked lime is heated, it becomes red. It is made for religious requirements.
