8 Mukhi Rudraksha is a type of rudraksha bead that has eight faces on its surface. The bead looks like it has eight proper, complete cuts from surface to surface, naturally. 8 Mukhi Rudraksha is the bead of Lord Ganesha. It is the bead that clears the air of eight problems a person can face in their lives, namely: anger, lust, greed, irritation, desires, jealousy, hate, and betrayal. Eight Mukhi rudraksha saves the person from these eight issues in a person’s life so that they can achieve the eight positives the life is meant to live for, namely: happiness, blessings, peace, control, love, care, empathy, and sympathy.

Eight Mukhi rudraksha is considered to be the gift to whosoever wears it. It helps in a lot of manners, specifically, with the fact that anyone wearing 8 Mukhi rudraksha will never come across any issues such as failure in life, problems and feuds with loved ones and related people, and issues with one’s own motivation to strive hard towards a plan of action.

What is Eight Mukhi Rudraksha?

8 faced rudraksha is a natural bead from the rudraksha trees. This Rudraksha is the eye of Lord Ganesha as it carries bundled blessings of Lord Ganesha and lord shiva, the father of Lord Ganesha. Eight Mukhi rudraksha is a symbol of power, knowledge, courage, and wit. People who are struggling to make any of the above issues should wear eight Mukhi rudraksha. This Rudraksha bead is made of natural fiber. This bead is considered to be the rescuer of the prisoned mentality of a person and opens their mindsets to new avenues of life.

Where is eight Mukhi rudraksha found?

8 Mukhi rudraksha is found in Indonesia and Nepal regions majorly. There are some parts of Indian regions also, that are closer to the Nepali borders. These Indian regions are also close cultivators of Rudraksha beads owing to a shared sense of geographical boundaries and topographical features. 8 faced rudraksha is majorly grown in the Indonesian and Nepali regions. These countries have full-time rudraksha farmers who dedicate their lives to cultivating the best crop of 8 Mukhi rudraksha to make it export quality ready. These crops need to be tenderly cared for and there are a lot of steps involved in producing the best batch of rudraksha plantation for getting greater results.

From the choice of seeds to be used for replantation to the quality of soil, level of manure, and degree of temperature has to be properly maintained. To know more about how Rudraksha plantation is actually done, refer to my blog about the same

Which rudraksha is best to wear?

There is always a lot of confusion about Indonesian rudraksha and Nepali rudraksha. These are two different locations where, as mentioned above, primary plantation and cultivation of rudraksha are practiced. While there is very little difference in the beads aesthetically, it is more to do with belief and mythology than science.

Scientific difference: 8 Mukhi rudraksha Indonesian quality bead is smaller in size. It is light brown in color and it comes with 8 cuts/ mukhs/ clefts on its face. 8 Mukhi Indonesian rudraksha is typically lighter in weight and its mukhs are not very clear. Indonesian beads are typically smaller in size. They start from anywhere around 7 mm and go up as high as 14 mm. Finding an 8 Mukhi Indonesian rudraksha higher than 7 mm is very rare and very uncommon. Procurement of 8 Mukhi Indonesian Rudraksha above 14 mm size is difficult because there is a certain limit to 8 Mukhi Indonesian rudraksha size and above this limit, the beads tend to break if not plucked. Since these beads are small in size, they are naturally lighter in weight as well. A typical 8 Mukhi Indonesian rudraksha weighs around 1-1.5 grams, which means it will be much lighter than a Nepali-origin bead. The cuts or mukhs on Indonesian Rudraksha beads are not very clear and the reason is geographical disparities. Best Rudraksha plantation happens in temperature conditions of Nepal. Since Indonesia cannot replicate the same thing entirely, therefore, there is a difference in the look, weight, and size of the beads.

Nepali rudraksha beads are much bigger in size and much heavier in weight. Nepali rudraksha beads are made of natural fibers. The beads ripen inside a protective shield of what is called the peel of rudraksha fruit. This peel or outer layer of Rudraksha is also called the Rudraksha fruit by some people. However, Rudraksha fruit is a different thing. In reality, the rudraksha bead that we all wear and sell is called the rudraksha fruit. It is the hardened pulp of the rudraksha plant that is called the rudraksha fruit. It is also called a bead because it hardens to make the shape of the bead. This rudraksha fruit or bead has small seeds inside it. These are called Rudraksha seeds. They can be used to replant into the soil to make a new rudraksha plant. This seed needs to be planted when it is still green and is not dried. These seeds make the rudraksha bead in understanding how many mukhs it is. If a rudraksha has eight mukhs and eight seeds, it is a complete bead as well as the original one. In Nepali beads, these seeds are very clearly visible and can be discovered in an X-ray report. Any kind of scan on the bead will be able to tell the actual picture of the bead. This makes the Nepali beads bigger and therefore heavier. Due to the tropical weather conditions, the color of the bead is also darker in shade. Nepali 8 Mukhi rudraksha is dark brown. The mukhs and cuts in Nepali rudraksha beads are more clear than that in Indonesian beads.

Mythological Difference: Indonesian rudraksha beads are considered to be growing in areas far from the Kailash Parvat regions. It is typically the far-fetched areas of the Old Himalayas. These beads are grown in Indonesia and they are sold majorly in India and Maldives. These beads grow more in number and thus, their supply is more than that of the Nepali beads. It is believed that since Nepali rudraksha beads are closer to the Himalayas and the Kailash Parvat, it is more effective to the wearer.

Time Difference: While Indonesian beads take around 60-90 days to make the best of their efforts come true, Nepali beads are quite fast in the same. It takes only 25-30 days for the Nepali beads to start showing their effect. This is because Indonesian beads carry less power in them as compared to Nepali beads. This is exactly why Indonesian beads are easy to procure and are of low cost than Nepali beads. Nepali beads are difficult to find in abundance, difficult to maintain plantation of, and extremely demanded, thereby, increasing the price of the same.

Can 8 Mukhi rudraksha be worn in any combination?

Any Rudraksha can be worn in combination with other rudraksha beads. There are no side effects to rudraksha beads. But there are a few guidelines to be followed in 8 Mukhi rudraksha while making a combination.

  1. 8 Mukhi rudraksha should not be worn in a combination of 7 Mukhi rudraksha unless there is another bead with it. Any combination of 8 Mukhi rudraksha should be avoided with  Mukhi rudraksha if there is no other rudraksha bead in the combination. 8 Mukhi rudraksha is represented by Rahu and 7 Mukhi rudraksha is represented by Shani dev. There is a mythological story of why these two forces have a grudge against each other and hence, Shani and Rahu don’t go together.
  2. 8 Mukhi rudraksha should also not be worn with 9 Mukhi rudraksha if there is no other rudraksha bead in the combination to negate the after-effects of each other's power clash. The reason is very simple. 8 Mukhi rudraksha represents Rahu and 9 Mukhi rudraksha represents Ketu. We all have studied how Rahu and Ketu don’t hold up their relationship in the most trusted manner with each other and therefore, a sole combination of 9 Mukhi and 8 Mukhi rudraksha do not go together.
